Biography
“Combining Kim Gordon style angst with lyrics about doing the dishes and listening to people having sex next door… thrilling stuff” – Dazed & Confused
Kaputt are the new band of talented multi-instrumentalist Silke Steidinger. Having departed The Go! Team in late 2005 with a fist full of songs, Silke has gradually built Kaputt into an exciting musical force. Kaputt are Silke Steidinger (vocals, guitar), Matt Yeates (guitar), Dave Ansell (drums) and Ben Roussel (bass).
They released their second single ‘Family Tree / Water Makes The Blades Blunt’ on Too Pure (now 4AD), which the Guardian described as ‘very good and lots of fun’. XFM’s John Kennedy was an excited supporter of the band from early on, inviting them to play XFM Xposure live sessions as well as inviting them to play at the XFM All Day Breakfast. He termed their first single Dishes ‘A Classic’. XFM’s Jon Hillcock included Water Makes The Blades Blunt on his New Noise Podcast, and the same song was ‘Song of The Day’ on KEXP Seattle. Marc Riley had them play a live session on BBC 6 Music. They are getting repeat spins on XFM, Radio 1, BBC 6, XFM Scotland, BBC Bristol, BBC Wales and KEXP Seattle.
Their current single was produced by Mercury Prize nominated producer Robert Harder, and they are currently working with producer Graham Sutton who recently produced British Sea Power’s Mercury Prize nominated album.
Kaputt manage to translate great songs into a vibrant and energetic live show.
